La Soubrette in Pink and Grey

Hi folks
Not much more happening in the Cubbyhole today from yesterday, but I have finished another card.
This time using "La Soubrette" from Rick St Dennis' fabulous collection of images. This one is only in the Zibbet Shop at the moment.
The colours chosen were inspired by the Graphit "Colouring Crazy Challenge" - use greys.
I used the pinky greys (from the 93xx range) and pink for this lovely lady.

Mounted onto pearlised grey after dotting around her with pale green grey (9201)

The papers used are from the docrafts "Madame Payraud" collection teamed with a piece of pink spotted vellum mounted onto more pearlised dark grey.

The swirls are die cut from dark pink card (left over from another project) and coloured with 9307 graphit pen.
A few feathers, a pearl pin and a glitzy metal flower shape with a single pink rose bud as in the picture.. A couple of pearly brads to secure the vellum.
Done.

I'd like to enter this card ito the challenge at

Enjoy Life............. Whilst You Can

Good morning everyone.
I am sitting here at my window looking out on a really cold and dreary day. What happened to the sunshine???
Oh well, it meant that my project for the Left of Centre Challenge actually got completed instead of being late ......... again
I have used the image from Rick St Dennis called The Crazy Queen of Hearts. Also in the Etsy shop for instant download here.

I made a card (for a change)

I coloured our Queen using promarkers and graph-it pens
using papers from stash - that base paper has been sitting on the shelf for longer than I can remember! The main piece is from BoBunny's Enchanted collection. Lace from stash.

The "Heads" that roll when The Queen of Hearts gets into a mood - they are by Stampotique. Stamped onto pearlised paper and mounted onto a flowery diecut

"Enjoy Life" stamp from Visible Image's Time After Time collection. Stamped with white to ensure the red embossing didn't get lost in the black

The rest of the sentiment is going to read "Whilst You Can" when I get the printer working

Go Pink with Delicious Doodles

Hi all,
Now anyone that knows me will know that pink is just not my colour. I neither wear it nor will willingly craft with it. There has to be a very special reason. This month provides that special reason. I bet there's not one person out there that hasn't been touched by breast cancer. Either knowing someone that is going or has been through the trials and torment or unfortunately going through the ordeal themselves. I know several people myself and it is with wonder that they find the strength to beat it although it is with great sadness that some did not.
Delicious Doodles want you all to show support for all those out there that are directly or indirectly affected by this awful disease by
GOING PINK FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
If I can do it - so can you.

I made a card - colouring Sunshine Gal - the newest image from Delicious Doodles - all in pink. Loads of pink on the card (with a bit of green to break it up)

Coloured with graphit pens with some of the silver pen over the icecream and gold in the flowers.
"tattered lace" leaves wound through a "poppystamps" mesh diecut. The little flowers punched from the scraps. Tiny gems for the centres are also seen on the side and sentiment.

and just so you can see how gorgeous this Sunshine Gal is

So get those fingers a-wandering over to the Delicious Doodles challenge blog and show your support.
Please

SteamPunk Junk with Haunted Design House

Oh I had such fun with this project. Even if I did get a blood blister on my thumb! Ouch! My colouring hand to boot! All for the sake of my "art"
This project started life as a dingy old lamp but I loved the shape. Then along came this challenge and it seemed made for my base.
The challenge in question was for Haunted Design House.

SteamPunk Junk

Well, it's not necessary to go rummaging in the bins - but to use something that would be thrown away by any "normal" person. A bit of up-cycling is the name of the game.

This is what I came up with

and yes it is functional

Covered with a multitude of chipboard cogs, some chain and wire coils then a few coats of paint of varying thickness (a bit of sand added to the first coat for added texture).
Then came the decoration of the panes
All the designs are painted using glass paint
There were stamped images that each design was loosely based on. Mostly from Ali's Inky Fingers with a bit of Creative Expressions. The images stamped onto paper under the glass then interpreted for ease of painting the outlines.

Your turn - what piece of junk can you turn into steampunk art?
Looking forward to seeing those pieces at HDH.

Four Seasons with Delicious Doodles

There's a little saying in these parts - "you know you're in Scotland when you get all four seasons in one day". This happens to be the theme this week of the challenge over on the
This also brought to my mind a song, one from my youth by James Taylor; "You've got a friend"; the bit where the the lyrics are "Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, all you got to do is call. You've got a friend"
Where is this taking us? To the card I made as part of the host Team A is where. Box cards seem to be the rage at the moment and I just had to have a go. Those ones that fold flat for posting. The method as demonstrated by Nikki Hall is by far the easiest by the way.
This is my take on it.

Some Spring Daffodils mixed with Summer butterflies coming out of the top
see here for one butterfly and here for the others. The butterflies have been mounted onto strips of acetate.

also featuring the Autumn/Fall paper

s
the sentiment is computer generated then cut out with nesties with distress ink shading
with room to write a message

The Lovey-Dovey Silhouette on the front highlighted with distress inks

The Harbour Scene on a summer's day added colour with Graph it pens

A Crofter's Winter with a touch of sparkle and added colour with Graph it pens.

So all seasons are covered here.
We're not asking for you to cover them all in one project though. Just as long as one is featured we'll be happy. Which season will you choose to depict? Come and show us over on the Delicious Doodles Challenge blog.

A Little Bit of SteamPunk

Good morning folks
I have been working on some projects now for a few weeks and neglecting my blog and a few other things besides. The projects are now finished and although I showed the biggest time consumer on facebook, I have yet to blog it and the sister project made.

They will both be published in Just Steampunk, Volume 5 on sale in August from Scott Publications,

First is a tote bag I made, from scratch. Just a collection of rectangles of cotton fabric stitched together, but I now have a decent sized craft tote to take what ever I need to my weekly craft club meetings. Plenty of pockets was my main aim and this has been achieved.
The decoration - the main image on the front flap is from the pen of Rick St Dennis. A new image created for me by the man himself. "A Clockwork Pony Cart" can be found in Rick's Zibbet shop and as a download from the Etsy shop.
I hand coloured the image first with a mixture of Graph It and promarker pens with metallic elements painted on using perfect pearls.
then scanned into my pc so that it could be printed onto the fabric transfer paper (Crafty Computer Paper).
The image cut out and ironed onto the front panel of my tote. Then, using a stencil from Creative Expressions and some copper fabric paint, was given a frame.

The handles for the tote were also stencilled using the same stencil and paint. The pockets on the side were decorated with another stencil, this time from "Splodgeaway"

The "sister" project, one that the original hand coloured project could be used on, also features another of Rick's new Steampunk images, Professor Coppelious. Also available as a download from Etsy. He also was coloured with a mixture of Graph It and promarker pens with metallic elements painted on using perfect pearls.
I had to flip him so that he fit my scene
Applied both the images to a canvas that was previously covered in black gesso them stencilled using glossy dreamweaver stencil paste and the same Splodgeaway mask as on the tote.
A mask made using a TH "weathered clock" die cut and some copper pan pastels over this. The stencil itself then was applied, why waste it? Some balloons, by prima, were stencilled as well using a mix of gold and sienna pan pastel.

The "time travel" letters are thickers from American Crafts.
