Pop Art

No. Not your Andy Warhol or Claes Oldenburg type art. Make your projects 3-D by popping then out from the main project.
My second post of the day here is dedicated to Smudgy Antics ' new challenge this week.

We want your projects this week to really POP!  Think dimension.  Think 3-D.  Use pop-dots, decoupage, or any technique of your choosing to make your images pop-out at us.  Heck, you can even use a spring to add some real pop with an added bonus of bounce!

I chose to alter another picture frame. I picked up several at a car boot sale a few weeks ago for just a few pence each. Some have already found new homes in different guises. This week's one was to be the home of Calamity Owl from Smeared Ink. and one of the French Fairies - The Star Tree Fairy, again from Smeared Ink.
Loads of die cut leaves adorn the frame, Stuck on with wood glue, a stronger version of PVA. This made the sticky out bits more resilient. The fairy background is from "Dancing with Fairies" digital papers from Crafty Chaos. The fairy herself coloured with promarkers with a smattering of stickles for that fairy sparkle.

Then the show stealer, Calamity. Coloured with promarkers again.
Shown here at a bit of an angle so you can see the dimension. Seated on a branch made from wooden offcuts from Crafty Embellies. The main wooden flourish up top is also from the same place. My trusty pinflair glue is what holds Calamity together like this. 6 images all together had to be cut about for all the layers. Looking at this again, I think I'll add some glossy accents to the eyes for a more glassy effect.

OK Off you pop and see the other girls awesome projects then back to Smudgy Antics and show us your Pop Art

  8. I could swear I left a comment? Maybe it was on SS or maybe I am crazy?! Gorgeous use of texture and dimension! Your owl looks like he's coming right for me and the leaves and vines on the frame are incredible! Everything works so well with your fairy. I feel like I can crawl into the scene with her!
