Tellen's Place colour challenge

Over on CDAC, Tellen's Place is hosting the colour challenge this week. Brown and yellow - not just a bit - LOADS. Well considering that I'm now on the DT team - although that doesn't start just yet - I felt I had to show my support. Not that it was a chore, I loved this one. Made a change from all the pink I had to do last week. There is a freebie supplied, but I chose to add another image.
Yes the majority have taken "Mandy" as running and enjoying herself; me, I saw a different side.....
so using "creepish" from the dark collection crouching in a tree....
I tore strips of 2 different brown papers and inked the edges in yellow and strips from 2 different yellow papers inking the edges in brown, layering onto yet more brown and yellow and mounting on brown cardstock.
The sentiment is computer generated by me.

SIC challenge #2

Just squeezing in 1 more card - before going away...... via the hossy. Just had a phone call to say they have a cancellation and can squeeze me in to see the orthopedic consultant if I could make it. If I was flying away today I'd have taken a later flight!! Got told on monday that the blinding headache I have had for months is nothing to do with my ears, nose or throat but they are going to do an MRI to see if that throws any light on things.... wait for an appt.... again. anyway.....

GIRLS WITH ATTITUDE
That's what Stamp It Crazy have requested - with a recipe.....Must contain a Girl, ribbon, retro flower and sentiment. Well I used one of their Goth stamps and although not strictly a girl - she is female. Cutting her wings off seemed a shame. The sentiment is from TLC. The backing papers are all from Crafty Chaos, including the paper that I punched the flowers from. The ribbon in the recipe is threaded into 2 of those flowers. The 'Slipped Halo' is from a peeloff. That about covers it.



Now you know what I do when I can't sleep.

Tag for a boy

I have been a busy girl - a couple of days off work - hols this time not sick leave - and I'm nearly caught up before going away for a few days. This one is for the Tag It On challenge for Dragon's Dream of a tag using a die cut this week. Well this one is based on a die cut jigsaw pieces with a cute little die cut duckling. The rubber stamp used is the little baby block in 2 corners. The writing - I have used peel offs for a change.

Keeping the girly stuff together

Another card I have made this week - for the challenge over on the "Craft Mad and Loving It" group I joined on Craft Bubble way back at the start of my blogging time in march. White on white following a sketchy. Well - to say it was a challenge - putting it mildly. White is not a colour I use very often and so has to improvise - **A Lot**
Stamping a border stamp in clear onto plain white cardstock and heat embossing with white pearlised powder to form the base. Using the "Snowman's Washing Line" digi from The Stamping Boutique Edging with glitter after adding some glitter snow. The sentiment is heat embossed with silver. both these layered onto more white cardstock that I had glittered round the edges and adding a strip of hammered white I had. The ribbon is the reverse of some silver mesh in stash with some white organza ribbon on top. The little "snowflakes" are punched out little flowers.
There I did it!

Pink on the Brink!!!

I know I'm not the only one that doesn't like to work with pink. This week there seems to have been a conspiracy going on .... Pink, Glitter, all things girly infact. Even Haunted Design House - that haven for us "dark creatures" - has turned turned to pink this week. They do specify on the brink though to give them their due. Brink of what though? That's upto each individual. I know that this week has had me all "pinked out" for a few days and I'm going away on a short break, either today or tomorrow to recover.
This project is filling 3 challenges....
Haunted Design House for their Pink on the Brink and the Smeared and Smudged Forum challenge taking inspiration from the video "Tea Party" by Kerli. I have taken 3 aspects of that video - the triangles/cones, stripes and that bejewelled skull used as a centre piece. I am also entering this into Glitterbabe's challenge #8 - a recipe requiring sparkle, glitter, bling and 2 flowers.
Using a skull rubber stamp from Happy Daze, stamped 7 times and cutting out each layer slightly smaller than the previous one (pyramage?) layered them all up after glittering the edges. The base layer has the black glitter for the eyes and nose hole. The top was then studded with various pink and clear gems. I threaded some seed beads for the edges of each layer onto thread before sticking down. The light pink stripes are from crafty choas Halloween Bride collection - though I have heat embossed with pearlised powder and that lightens the paper - the effect I wanted I might add. The flowers have a little skull stuck on the brad. The pink box was part of a multicoloured stacking set that I have had up in the attic for years.

The Duck Pond Card Kit

"Helllloooo" out there. I'm doing a spot of advertising for a dear friend - Yep. See that drowning duck over on the left at the top - click on it and go see what Karen has in store. I make a few cards and many of you do to. This kit is a great way to try out some new papers etc.
Last month I did a marathon card making session for The Duck. This month is the same - some more cards with a bit of a difference. I don't often do run of the mill cards as many will know by now although the odd one will squeeze it's way in occassionally. Last week was the turn of a shabby chic, vintage card, today ......well --- you see ......

c/o Judy Headrick. (This is a great way of using up scraps. No special iris folding paper used and still effective.) She also does some cutwork templates although this is done using one of my own. The "Fan-tastic" sentiment is also a freebie from TLC. The stamped image is a freebie from docrafts this month.

I am entering this card into the My Time To Craft challenge this week - they want to see Handbags on a project.

So as you see, no more pennies spent out. If I were to cost out each card, based on what I had left from last months kit ...about 50-75p a card. Where else can you get such value?

Shabby Chic? for Friends

I've never even thought about doing this style of card, let alone be comfortable with the style. But isn't crafting about trying new things, expanding techniques, taking yourself out of the comfort zone? Well that's what I hope I have achieved here.
This card was sparked off by the challenge this week for shabby chic over on Ellephantastic Challenges, owned and run by a dear friend, Helen who has set up her own shop selling her digis and other crafting goodies. Yet another friend... yes, I have more than 1... Karen over at The Duck Pond is putting together and selling these amazing card making kits with some fantastic papers etc. When you have a spare 5 mins - go take a look at both.
Using 2 of the papers, dewdrops and buttons from the Duck's kit and a freebie image from Dezina World, and a couple of other bits from stash, I put this little card together. The layers are stitched together.
I am also entering this into the City Crafter Challenge for their "Isn't She Lovely" challenge.
I don't think this will be a style I do a lot of.... but will always try something at least once.

The Duck challenge

.... yet another mermaid tilda!! Now you girls should know by now .... I don't do Tilda. BUT I was challenged by another dear friend to do a Tilda card AND blog it. Well I couldn't do an 'ordinary' one! Could I? She is coloured using water colours and sparkling H2O's, although the glimmer is hard to photograph. I just couldn't bring myself to colour her pink. Green she had to be! The weed is a die cut and the shells are decoupage. The "anchoring strip" is made by stamping bubble wrap onto paper. The backing papers are from the 'fragrant mint' selection over on Crafty Choas.

The Grumpies

A friends 50th tomorrow.... and he is getting "annoyed" at being reminded of his 1/2 century... even though we're all older. Made him a card, had to be blue because he is chelsea football team mad......
I have this great stamp set from Smeared Ink called the Grumpies. 6 brilliant little creatures in 2 sizes and a few choice little sentiments....... the perfect choice in my opinion for this friends card.
Using silver thread, I hung the "50" from the "ears" of the top image and because I have used a pocket fold on the card - the numbers can be tucked away. Images coloured in using promarkers on white card then pieced onto the BP. I wasn't up for cutting out the hairy bits so had stamped the image on the BP as well and just cut round the main images.


And another card with these great little creatures..... Over on the Smeared Ink forum, there is a little challenge going on. Using all the colours of the rainbow and images from one of the Smeared Ink sets, make some sort of creation. Be it altered art, scrapbook page or just a card. Well I had this idea of threading different coloured paper as a central piece and then to go with the "hairy situation" sentiment ... added fibres in the same colours. The grumpies themselves were heat embossed onto black card and with sticky pads layered onto that.

Stamp It Crazy

And that's just what I did .....10 individual images although if you discount the 4 grave stones as 1 and the 2 stunted trees as 1 that still makes 6. Stamps used were gothic fairy (dragon mistress) from Stamp it Crazy, dragon and owl from Tanda Stamps, gravestone from recollections, the stunted trees are from De Stempelwinkel and the tree is a digi from .....um.....I'll find it some where.
Using distressing ink, I daubed a background and just added layers from there. There is a moon hiding behind the trees branches by the way. The dragon was stamped with stazon onto a shiny green card that has holographic properties the other images in pigment inks. The tree coloured in PM's, the fairy with watercolours the rest are inked. Great fun to put together - just missing a few bats in the sky - but I don't have rubber ones :( ....... yet.

Paper pieced wedding card

Make me a wedding card please - a request from a friend. What could I say? What kind? How big? Colours? Anything was the reply. Thinking cap donned. Here we go .... travelling out of my comfort zone again. Anyway, to cut a long story short.... I came up with this ...
Using the Bride and Groom digi from Karen's Doodles, I paper pieced the bride's dress and shoes, after printing it onto a white pearlised paper onto the plain white card of the base. I had to cut an extra hand for the groom as well or he would have lost it - the 3d dimension would have been "out". The edges of the dress and the bodice were then treated to a small dose of stickles. The main image coloured with promarkers. This was matted onto silver mirri board as was the small panel.
The backing paper was a gift from a friend so unfortunately do not know the source. The lace, lilac flowers, silver ribbon etc from stash. I made the bead and pearl pins. I also made a box, covered with the same backing papers as used on the card as was the ribbon and flowers.
I'm happy to say both the bride and groom loved it........phew.

An Anniversary Card

I've been playing again with different folds for cards. This one has so far been a source of amusement for my son and a couple of his mates when I used it for a birthday card and it is a nice way of displaying the three elements I wanted to include in this card. The sentiment, printed on vellum and backed with a music/hearts paper (unknown origin) secured with heart brads; and the Mr and Mrs Roger from Ellephantastic's digital range, each holding the others hearts (depicted by the colour of the patch)and pieced onto dry embossed hearts. The backing paper for Mr and Mrs Roger is Bobunny which is not to feminine as it would be for a bloke as well. The images are revealed by pulling the sides apart and would stand balanced with the sentiment diamond. The additional ribbon from stash and the little red dewdrops from Crafty Feelings. There we have it.

And yet another spider

I got these new papers...for me ... from Craftychaos ... and couldn't wait to use them. Over on the Smeared and Smudged forum they have a "very sketchy" challenge running each month. It was using this months sketch that I put together this little piece using an image from Phee McFaddell coloured with PMs. The spider is a butchered flower and brad from CraftyFeelings with a few extra bits from stash. The sentiment is computer generated by me. I had in mind the challenges this week over on the Stamp Man challenge#2 using 2 colours, Haunted Design House for Netherworld Nymphs and the CraftsandMe challenge for Purple and Green whilst compiling it all so this is my entry this week. And although I know I'm not eligable this week, going to post it into Whimsical Ink Sorority's challenge for purple as well.

Dragon's 50th

I've been so busy this week with one thing and another that I totally forgot to post this tag for Dragon'sDream Tag it on challenge #50. Music is the theme this week. Bit short on music type stamps - like none - so went for the music score sheet background. Spritzed with glimmer, Stamped with a big "Happy" and the little dragonfly. Real simple and quick - sorry not much more to it, but then I think plain and simple can be just as effective.

Smeared and Smudged

My first blog hop for this great forum, well fully participating anyway. For those that happen upon my blog from other places and have never come across it, it's a great place to meet and discuss art forms that incorporates rubber stamping in a more Alternative, Vintage and Gothic way. There are the odd cutie cards that are displayed, but for anyone looking for something a bit more... come join us and look at the varied and wonderful creations the girls have come up with.

This month the theme is "Hidden Object". Making an object that incorporates at least one stamp.

I chose to get on with another crimbo card, because the stamps I have ordered have not yet arrived - stamping a snowman stamp from (I think) stampotique that was borrowed from a friend onto a 6"x6" yellow marbled paper from her stash. (I was staying at her house for a weekend.) attached one corner onto her last piece of 12"x12" black bazzil that I had folded with a two pocket fold technique. (There are different variations on youtube if you want to try this.) and the other corner was stamped with a mistletoe stamp from an unknown source. The berries inked in PM's and glossy accents applied.
Now for the hidden object .... pull the left hand snowflake up and the sentiment is displayed.. "Have A Smashing Christmas" - heat embossed in silver onto acrylic and attached with a snowflake disguised brad. The 2nd hidden object is the money pocket hidden behind Mr Snowman....
The whole thing is like a reverse easel card and the snowflake brad at the back acts as an anchor to keep all layers together and as a means to lock the base up so it can stand.
Well that's how I made it, now for the piccies ....

Flutterings, foul or fearsome

Well Barb over on Haunted Design House wanted Foul Flutterings this week for HDH challenge #50. Well I don't know about foul ... because I like dragons ... but this lady would be definately fearsome. Nothing can be more fearsome or foul than a mother looking after her young under perceived threat. Auresha, from Tellen's Place Designs is blissfully unaware of her fate as she offers up a little snack for the draglets.
Using 4 different dragon stamps from Tanda stamps and a digi flower from Dew Drop Craftz as the additional images I put together this little project.
The orange paper that I'd printed the flower onto was layered onto textured orange cardstock (after a little roughing up round the edges). The mummy dragon coming out of the sun was stamped with green ink and heat embossed with both a red glittery powder and silver with other details water coloured. Auresha herself was coloured with promarkers, with just a touch of glossy accents on the eyes, horns and wings. The draglets were stamped in the same green ink as mum onto pearlised card and coloured the same. The reverse image was obtained by stamping onto acetate and rubbing the image onto the card with my ball tool.

Black, Lovely Black

One of my fav. colours but oh so difficult to photograph!! I've had this card made for nearly 24 hrs trying to get the light just right - no glare and reflections and not brown. Well I think this piccy is about as good as I'm going to get.
Using a skull stamp from Happy Daze, first stamped in platignum ink onto matt black card stock and embossed with white pearl powder then, masking the first image, in black ink with the same embossing powder, I got the "shadow" effect I wanted. Mounted this onto glossy black card stock. I printed a black swirly design onto acetate and layered onto the lower part of a grainy black paper (unfortunately this doesn't show well in the pic) securing with black brads, all from stash. The black flower is from 2 sources, inner sent from USA and outer, together with the black dew drops from Crafty Feelings. The black velvet and organza ribbons are also from stash.
There we have it. Great fun to make, not so much to get a piccy as I said.

Eat outside

Another Tellen's Place digi from the dark range..... done fairly tame this time. With a little twist. Over on QKD's Whimsical Ink Sorority there is a really simple sketchy to follow this week. I just HAD to use my new TPD stamps. I have slightly adapted the TLC creations sentiment to fit. The image is coloured with PM's and inked round the edge with stormy sky distress ink mounted onto brown card stock. The panel is torn vellum from stash as is everything else. Hehehe, even the little chicken bones ..... left over from the voodoo challenge over on HDH.

Paper Roses

Make your own says Dragon over on Dragon's Dream, Tag It On challenge. Well that's just what I did. Again, after a shortage of time has stopped me playing, I am trying to get back into joining in some of those challenges I really enjoy taking part in. This is one of them. Using 3 different coloured papers in pale orange, peach and cream, these little roses were born. I added little pearls into the centre of each (from stash). Using a newly aquired die cutter and card from stash, cut out the leaves and butterfly. The sentiment is a rubber stamp from Happy Daze. The ribbon ties are from stash as well.
Once again I have enjoyed dreaming with the Dragon.

Big Fish

After an absence of too long, I have finally managed to get a Burtonesque Dolls challenge card done on time. Phew. This week is the turn of "The Big Fish". While I have not yet managed to see the film, I haven't even seen it advertised - I did a little googling as to the story line. While lots of attention is centred around the carnival, I have chosen to pick up on the way time is used. Using Huffy Fish digi stamp from Digi Shack and the "It's About Time" digi from Smeared Ink and sentiment from TLC Creations, I put together this little offering. I used the pocket watch tiled to make the backing paper and the rest from stash.

Keeping an Eye (or 8) on the Neighbours

Appalling Arachnids is this weeks challenge from Haunted Design House, Macabre Mondays. Last time I did spiders, I apparently freaked a few people out, so this time I have gone tame. just the 2 visible spiders on this one. I have used the Haunted House digi stamp from Shelleys Images decoupaged with 4 layers after colouring with PMs and fine liners and then behind a window frame. The frame has been covered with a tattered bit of net and then stuck on distressed paper (gifted by a friend so unsure of the origin) for the inside of the room. Then spidey, home made from pipecleaners and coloured with permanent markers is peeking out into the street.

I am also entering this into the challenge for distressing over on Ellephantastic Challenges. Paper and netting both having been distressed and into the Oh Alice! challenge this week which is create with windows and/or broken glass technique.
