It's A Monster of a Day

I have two pieces being displayed in the May Monster Blog hop.
My first wearing a Rick St Dennis hat at Airless Chambers.
My second wearing the hat that I hang at Haunted Design House using images from fellow Minion Teri at Delicious Doodles/Darkness.

Using my new toy, I cut a grid from white card and matted onto black
The sentiment is computer generated in a word processing program
The image is Skullcycle from Rick St Dennis. Coloured with promarkers and graph'it pens.
Some of the cut outs from the white mat used to give a chain saw effect
Some parts were highlighted with glossy accents to add a bit more dimension.

My second offering is part of a series of ATCs. These feature the Horrorscope images from Delicious Doodles/Darkness

Ripped To Ribbons with HDH

My second post of the day is dedicated to Haunted Design House. A place I call home. Deep in the darkest dungeon imagined. We're inviting you guys to break out your ribbon stash for this challenge. NO - not the pink and frilly variety - it's the darker side of you we want to be allowed to break free. Loose the ties that keep you in the land of Fluff and use them to create a darker piece of art fit for the Mistress of the Underworld.
Me?
I used another of the "Book boxes" I have sitting waiting for a make-over. The first was last week in orange and lemon, this one took a darker theme with purple and black.

A purple acrylic wash applied - it is - honest - the light isn't the best to capture it's true colour. Then die cuts from black paper applied . Some black lace and lilac ribbons and a touch of glamour with a strip of black gems. Both back and front are the same.
The spine was given some decoration with lilac and purple ribbon.
The "leaves" of the book ie the sides were coated with old gold wax. All neatened off with black paper.
Now were's that photo? gone AWOL.
I'll be back later with that.
In the meantime - get those makes linked up at HDH # 189 so that we can see what you can do with a few ribbons - ripped or otherwise.

Button It Up

Hi peeps. It was an honour to be asked to be a guest DT for Through the Purple Haze again and this new challenge is about using those buttons in your stash. I was given a digi from Digi Stamps 4 Joy to create with called "Game Zone" from the boys section. Hence my tag was aimed at a young lad - namely my Grandson who will have his birthday in July.
Using papers from a stack that I've had forever, I covered a bought tag and using small dies from Tattered lace cut the scalloped edges and the "buttons" from scraps in my box. the little dots are drawn in by hand to look like buttons.  The image coloured with Graphit pens and cut out with a circle die. A real button has the number 7 sealed in with glossy accents after attaching it over the tag cord. If you're reading this and want to compete for prizes from either DS4J  or Lucy Sunshine then get on over to Through the Purple Haze with your buttons.
Thank you to the team members over at TTPH for putting up with me this month, it's been a pleasure creating with you.

An Altered Book Box

Good day to you all. I have been working on this box for a couple of days now. Drying time added to the wait before it was totally done. I have used the Rick St Dennis image Pierrot Masque.
The colours chosen were inspired by the challenge over at the Graph-It challenge blog - Oranges and Lemons. This led me onto a challenge for me. Could I colour the image using just 3 colours? I don't have any orange graphit pens, but I do have one red 5240, one yellow 1170 and a brown 3160. These together with the blender pen and some school day art in the background (red and yellow make orange) and I came up with this.
Not too shabby I think
The box I chose to alter is one of those that looks like a book. Painted first with a wash of  Quin Gold decoart paint and a background design cut from yellow paper using a cut file from Bird's cards.stuck on.
The front has some satin ribbon, pleated as I went with some gems stuck on to keep those pleats flat. Then a medallion with the images face stuck in with glossy accents and some smaller gems added.

The back just has the image stuck on using gel medium

The spine covered in more ribbon

The "leaves of the book" were coloured with bronze pan pastel mixed with gel medium
and the spine ribbons neatened off with some glittery orange/white paper from my scrap box

Moody? Me Moody??

Delicious Doodles Challenges are (hopefully) getting you to think inwards this week.

(A Bit) Moody

How moody do you get? Are you light and airy? Down in the dumps and blue? Are you feeling like your world has ended? Angry? What ever mood you are in - depict it in a project and come link it up so we can either share in your joy or commiserate on your sorrows and woes.

I must admit, I was feeling a bit like death warmed up when I made this. These new meds are taking their toll, but it could be it's just a case of getting used to them. I'll persevere for a couple of weeks before going back to the docs again though.
I made one of those fold up box cards that seem to be the fashion now. The style does allow for many interpretations and multiple images can be accommodated. Well, I couldn't make up my mind which to use..... so I used lots!

Some closeups

All the images were coloured with pencils, blended with baby oil
How moody do you get? Come show us, please at Delicious Doodles Challenges

GDT Spot for Through The Purple Haze

Two projects today - both totally different.
This one is as a guest designer for Through The Purple Haze. I have been given the honour and asked to join team B for May.
This week the challenge #41  is "Anything Goes - opt For a Male".

The image supplied is from the sponsor - Sassy Designs. Steampunk Vivian.

Coloured with promarkers and mounted onto an embossed piece of cardstock with the raised portion highlighted with gilding wax

Keeping the embellishments simple - no man wants a lot of fru-fru on a card but the lace and pearls fit in with the sexy image I think.

Papers from the docrafts Steampunk range mounted on dark brown.

That's about it from me this time. Just to say thanks to Through the Purple Haze for having me along for the ride

Whole LOTTA Rosie with HDH

Team B's turn to show some inspiration for the current challenge at Haunted Design House. Have you ever listened to the lyrics or that fabulous AC/DC song? If you don't know them, you won't understand my project - so do yourself a favour and listen again. - Then get a making!!!!

I actually finished an Art doll I had already started off by giving the torso a base coat of burnt sienna paint. There she sat - for weeks - while I pondered what to do with her. Then it came to me!

There I sat one night making 13 roses. Then stamping tissue paper with a music script stamp (visible image) and highlighting with bronze panpastel. Finding that tape measure type ribbon that I knew was in my stash somewhere. Modpodge at the ready........ and we're off. Tissue paper and tape in place. OOps nearly forgot the lightening flash. Some red mirri card from the scrap box then sticking all the roses on, spiralling up the body.
Now for a head. This fashioned from paper clay wrapped round a screwed up wastepaper ball. That paper clay goes further this way. When dry(ish), some old gold gilding wax for the hair and added some copper wire spirals. A rock from the garden makes for an ideal stand. Instead of getting her "Rock on" she got on her rock.
How will you interpret "AWhole Lotta Rosie"? Come show us at Haunted Design House

Craft Challenge Birthday Hop

Morning everyone. I'm hoping that this is going to be scheduled properly. Getting the times right over different time zones does tend to fox me occasionally.
This is a twisted easel card I made as part of a GDT spot. Sparkle and Glitter With Rick is taking part in the Craftchallenge blog 5 th blogaversary hop, Rick St Dennis is sponsoring this challenge to celebrate their 5th anniversary. The theme is, of course,
"Birthday"

I used the image Everybody Dance on Zibbet and Etsy
It seemed to scream "celebration" at me
Coloured with graph-it pens in various shades of pink and red (toned down with the blender pen) on the dress, then there's the brown hair and silver (grey) head-dress

Framed with a cut out using my new toy and more graph-it pens to colour the BG as pink is not a colour cs I have a lot of. Less now considering the amount of pink cards I've had to do lately, lol.
The BP is a digi paper from the, now closed (boo hoo), talents of Crafty Chaos - "Dancing with Fairies". This was matted onto black then pink glitter cs then more black (so that the back looked good)
Some black tulle and pink organza ribbons. The sentiment "It's your BIRTHDAY, Celebrate" forms the stop for the easel bit. Then there's the bling - pink and shiny for the girly-girl this is destined for.

White on White with Delicious Doodles

Morning all,
Another card from me today. Much preparation had to go into this - and cleaning! My work bench had to be clear of all inks and paints so that I didn't get this one grubby, lol. Grunge and white don't like living in the same area which is why I don't often do all white cards, I suppose.
White on White
is the theme over at Delicious Doodles this week with Team A - hence the clear up.

I used three different images from Delicious Doodles to make my first C. card of the year. One down, several more to go.

I used the sketch over at Through the Purple Haze this week for my inspiration
Different types of white card stock used for each layer, plain for the bottom on which I printed the Christmas Snowflake border, then a hammered white for the embossed layer and linen look for the snowflake and tree's mat.die cuts and finally a pearlised card for the layer with the Swirly Snowflake Tree and Swirly Snowflake Frame. I also heat embossed the raised areas of the dry embossed using pure white EP

Some white ribbon from stash teamed with another die cut - this time from some glossy white (waste packaging that nearly went in the bin. I got four swirls out of it first, three are safely stashed)

Then loads of tiny gems in the snowflake centres on the tree and card. Finally some crystal stickles on the border's snowflakes. There - nearly all blinged out.

I'd like to enter my card into the challenge at
