Haute Coutoure

Something a lot out of my comfort zone for today's post. A card needed to be made for a work colleague's birthday. The image was one of those I had coloured previously and seemed to be the most apt for the birthday girl. All it needed was a home.
The image is called Haute Coutoure by Rick St Dennis. Coloured with Graph-It pens. I really am falling in love with these!

I used the sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches as my inspiration. Turned slightly to fit in with my image.
Unfortunately that challenge has closed so they won't get to see me using this.
Even the twist of lace and pearls - these fitted with the image so well.
The pics were taken in a hurry before going to work today - my apologies. I left it in the box I'd made I was in such a rush.

The feathers in pale pink, mint green and cream to match the outfit stuck into a metal bead that was coloured with pale gold pan pastel and sewn onto the card for security.
The cream lace was threaded through with pale pink and mint green satin ribbon with some pearl sprays to decorate. You can just about see the text that was added to the main BP - a background stamp by Paper Artsy - stamped with versamark and brushed over with pale gold Pan Pastel.
The two panels are core-dinations - both dry embossed and matted onto the same dark pink that was used to mat the BP and image.
The sentiment is on the card insert - oops no pic ..... I was in a rush as I said

Mistletoe Kisses

More Christmas cards to make. Someone just ordered 3 more - and were specific that they had to be 8"x8". Back to the Cubbyhole I go. Feminine without being too glittery - here goes.
The traditional festive colours of red and green was my first one. I suppose in many peoples eyes, Christmas IS red, green and white. The colours of holly, ivy, fir and mistletoe - the natural decorative items in days gone by.
I chose the image "Mistletoe Fairy" from AuroraWings. Coloured with promarkers with a drop of glossy accents on the mistletoe berries.

The card itself was made with the sketch by Tuesday Morning Sketches as inspiration.

The main paper is DCWV with a MME panel. All matted on pearlised dark green card with TH leaves from the offcuts.
A shiny red satin ribbon with pearly clasp
and a little Die'sire sentiment on pearlised white card

One down - two to go.

Red, Red and More Red

It's Team A over at Delicious Doodles' challenges to host this week's challenge, and it just happens to be one of my favourite colours that forms the theme. Red and LOTS of it!! Well it is getting to be that time of the year when thoughts turn to love and the red blood starts to race for those in love.
I chose to use three of Teri's new doodles.
Gothic Bride and Groom, one of the new Rose and Thistle papers, and a freebie that if you hurry you can also pick up from Teri's blog.
The rose and thistle paper is hard to make out in this pic - I printed it onto pearlised paper - hence the glare.
There, you can see it a bit better here. The image itself was coloured with promarkers then fussy cut out and inserted into the die'sire frame cut from deep red pearlised card. Some red lace added down one edge.

The layout of the card is loosely based on the sketch over at Tuesday Morning Sketches. (very loosely).

There is a panel cut from red backed, black core-dinations, dry embossed and sanded. Then there is a strip of black  lace with red overlaid crossing at right angles.
The little collection of red roses with a black one at the centre are gathered onto two die cut hearts, with a charm of a little pair of skulls with a rose.

The stop of the easel card is a flower formed by inter-locking more die cut hearts.
Some red tear drop gems in the centre some some black gems inside them. The sentiment is computer generated, printed and die cut before ink distressing with more red.

So - have you been creating in red? If you have, why not come on over to the Delicious Doodles challenge this week and strut your stuff?

Merry Christmas

Good morning all
Whilst I don't do Christmas easily, I do not inflict my beliefs on others and those of my family that do celebrate get the cards and gifts as normal.
I made a card for my hubby. It might seem a strange picture - but then my hubs is a bit strange as well now. After living with me - it was to be expected? He loves pigs and he is an Angel - by name anyway. He is my Angel and has been my rock throughout my health problems. What better image than this that I found in the store of Rick St Dennis. I had to have it for him. Here is "Pig Angel".

OK I did trim him a bit - forgot to measure the card before printing and colouring with my promarkers and glittery gel pens. oops.
I used the the sketch over at Tuesday Morning Sketches as my inspiration. My Minds Eye papers, some pearlised silver card so that the colours loosely resemble his fav footie team of Hearts. Some stickles and flower soft. Some die cut and punched snowflakes. Done.

Day 7 of Creepmas Blog Hop with RSD

Hi and welcome to the seventh day of the first annual Creepmas Blog Hop with Rick St Dennis and his wonderful EDT ladies - we will be hopping for 13 days starting Saturday Dec 1, 2012 with new projects and new images every day for 13 days. Don't forget the daily contest - somewhere in the blog hop there is a new image that just rolled out that day when you find it post on that blog and then rush back here and post what the image is and where you found the new image - you must be first on BOTH blogs to post in order to win the image - you will also win the new image from Rick's blog - yes there are 2 images per day being rolled out. The blog roll can be seen over on the left, starting with Rick's "Airless Chambers" blog and ending with Nataliya's.

That's the copy paste bit, lol.

Another card from me today.
Using yet another fabulous image from the talented Rick St Dennis. This one is called Creepmas Morning.
There's been a few Christmas morning's in years gone by when I have looked like this happy family. After working all night, then having to "deal with" two very excited children.
I scanned this before adding a light dusting of chalks to the BG. Coloured with promarkers, a few touches here and there with some glitter pens (the spider's legs, star and the tree) with some pencil colouring on the tree.
I did say I'd made a card

The green cobwebby ribbon was in a RAK from the talented Barb Foster of Haunted Design House infamy.
The pictures hanging on the wall are just pieces cut from ribbons in my stash.
The little rosette/wreath was made from the offcuts produced when making the frame for my family portrait. Some olive green satin ribbon to add definition.
All this was based on the sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches this week.

I hope you are enjoying seeing all these projects as much as I'm enjoying making them. I thank you for all your kind comments it makes it all so much more worth while.
Off you pop now to see Nataliya and I'll see you tomorrow.

If you're into Halloween and the creepier side of things be sure to follow the CREEPMAS hop which has all sorts of weird stuff including decor, stories and general insanity...its fun... see left hand side bar logo for link

There's also a Smeared and Smudged 12 Days of Creepmas hop going on - The blog roll for that is also on my side bar.

In Stitches

Make us laugh or use real or faux stitching, or simply use an image with stitching in it .... however you interpret the challenge over at Smudgy Antics this week of  "You Leave Me In Stitches".
The girls have done some amazing things on their projects again this week. Me, well you can make up your own mind.
I did follow the sketch over at Tuesday Morning Sketches - but this post is too late to enter their challenge. Oh well.
The image is, of course, from Smeared Ink - Stitchy Situation, doll #1. Using scraps from the scrap box that I'm trying to use up, papers from Basic Grey, I paper pieced the image. Just a tiny bit of extra grey promarker to give some shadow above the pot belly. The hair is couched embroidery thread. The image already has stitching as part of it.
I machine stitched the torn and ink distressed image piece to the BP then couched some "spaghetti" on with some bug buttons in the corner.
More of the DP cut out and stitched onto a green circle before attaching to a layer of lilac vellum type paper that was stamped with a crackle effect stamp from Creative Expressions before more stitching onto light green card then onto a dark green card base.
The sentiment was computer generated by me. I couldn't make up my mind whether this little soul was poorly or love sick. I went with the poorly angle as he looks a bit green round the gills.
Your turn to stitch us up over at Smudgy Antics peeps.
