Love is in the Air

Just one more week and that day that the romantics among us look forward to will be upon us.  I must admit,  I am not one of those souls but, hubby is. Me? I think it is just an excuse for those florists to put up their prices and card companies seem to forget there are February birthdays as the shelves are bowing under the weight of over-priced cards for those wanting to declare their adoration to another. So a simple card from me. I am not without feeling and a card will be expected, especially as I do make one or two.
This week it is Team A's turn over at Delicious Doodles' Challenges to host. The theme is

LOVE (Good or Bad)

I thought I'd bring out some of the older images that Teri has drawn for a change and made an easel card.
Made from an ordinary 5" square card blank with an extra fold - simple.

 The base was painted first with "radiant rains" "egyptian gold" and "persimmon" then a light dusting of black DI. A text stamp using stazon stamped on the "front".
The images are all from Delicious Doodles of course. The Swirly Heart Square Frame, Swirly Heart Corner Set and Swirly Heart

 The standing panel was attached to a piece of coredinations cardstock before attaching with shaker tape.

The stops are formed from paper mache shaped using a fondant mould then painted with more of the radiant rains paint.

A Card for a Special Man

It's my wedding anniversary next week and I thought I better knuckle down and make hubs a card. I seem to be making them for every one bar him. He does get to see them though. Not this one. Yet. He doesn't even visit my blog, so I'm safe here.
I discovered a new (to me) stamp company, Visible Image, and there was a sentiment stamp I wanted, for a card to be made in the future. While I was on the site I saw this stamp set and loved it. So two purchases later.....
This is the card I made using the Immortal Love set.

The base card has a silver heat embossed corner stamped on it. This is topped with a black/red core-dinations dry embossed and sanded panel, matted onto pearlised silver card. The embossed centre panel was created by inking the folder with red and dry embossing the piece of pearlised silver. The sentiment panels are two of the words from the set, again heat embossed with silver, matted onto more silver before adding on with sticky pads to lift them. It's difficult to see - but all edges are distressed for a slightly aged look.
The rose in the centre is made up from six images stamped onto patterned paper. and decoupaged up. Some rock candy painted on gives it that shiny  look and helps add more curl to the petals.

Some tiny pearls added to the sentiment panels finished this for me.

Another Cute Card???

This makes two cute cards in a row. Don't worry - it won't last long!
When I find myself at a mental block/lack of mojo, my trick is to either make flowers to stockpile for future projects or to change my style. This week it's change of style until I "get my creep back on", and you don't get much more cute than this little tortoise/turtle. It's from a collection of new valentine images that Rick St Dennis has been drawing.
This one is the Valentine Turtle. I did flip him as I wanted him facing the other way.
I used the sketch # 86 over at Deconstructed Sketches as my guide.

A red card base with mats of black then pink. The green was embossed after inking my folder with red DI. and scraps of red/white heart ribbon added to the corners.
The DP on the black flower die cut mats is from the Authentique "Lovely" collection. and some inverted teardrop gems form the hearts in the corners.
The image was coloured with promarkers.

Then fussy cut out and mounted onto black. Thanks Donna for reminding me what an impact this has. Thanks go also to Kristy Lee for providing the inspiration for mounting the image onto a "wobbler". I had to make my own as I couldn't find a source in the UK. 

Bit difficult to photo now it's made up but the dimension can be seen.
