Which Witch?

Which Witch am I? The Challenge over at Haunted Design House poses this question.

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece

that represents YOU at your witchy best. Maybe you like to think
of yourself as the wicked step mother type witch, or maybe one
of the old crones who live by herself deep in the woods.
If you'd rather not represent yourself that way, you can just
choose your favorite witch of all time as use her as your muse.

I had to think on this one amid other projects I have been working on. I decided to use the image from Delicious Doodles - The Pumpkin Witch, teaming up with a background from Moonlight Journey. The witch coloured with promarkers. This is the top half. I made a hanging. I do need a bit more to decorate the walls of my crafty space. There is black webby ribbon with lace and velvet ribbon just because I like lace and velvet. The purple panel is embossed vellum, I have nothing to hide.

The whole thing has bits in there to represent me as I see me.
The dangly bit with the purple feathers, for the fluffy side of me, has a mix of beads in purple and black with a little skull spacer as well.
The black roses together with the purple thistle and white heather. (English displaced to Scotland).
The "saying" off centre, as I can be, was computer generated and a reminder that I shouldn't do and say just what is expected of me all the time.

The BP from Free Craft Downloads features an exotic black orchid mounted onto black. All edges slightly distressed, a bit frayed round the edges, hahaha - again just like me.

Annabel Lee

Annabel Lee was the last complete poem written by the Master Author, Edgar Allan Poe. It tells of a love so great, that when an untimely death befalls the beautiful Annabel Lee, the narrator's fate is that of a living death.
My project this week is a "meander book" made the same size as an ATC. Each page has one of the six verses and a picture that, I think, fits that verse. So a lot of pics. Are you sitting comfy?

A step away from Christmas with an ATC

It's another challenge over at the Smudgy Antics blog. This week it's to create something that is inspired by either a book, poem or film.
You probably wouldn't believe the thought processes that led to this theme. I'll tell you anyway.
First off a pic of the ATC.....


I'm not going to spill what book/film this is meant to depict just yet. Anyone guess yet?
As I was saying, I need to make some sort of label/tag for a couple of jars that contain crystallised orange peel. I also wanted to make it kinda steampunk-ish.
Then this book/film came into my head and would not leave. The subject/content of the film is not suited very well to being part of a gift though. So I went with a seperate ATC to get it all out of my system.
The back of the ATC is orange handmade paper, then a music background stamp on card that was well distressed with orange DI. The steampunk triangle is from a Moonlight Journey sheet.
a couple of watch parts attached. The top layer is a Smeared Ink digi stamp printed onto acetate and attached with a brad just where one of the notes is printed.



Anyone guess yet?

E A Poe

Smudgy Antics Blog has a challenge this week. To make a "something" inspired by Poe and/or his works. Not that hard to do. Has to be stamped somewhere, either digi or rubber and the added bonus is that if a Smeared Ink stamp is used, the prize is the awesome DT creation made by Blackdragon!!!

Here's my humble offering... first time at altering a canvas!!!

Three poems were at the front of my mind when creating this. "Annabel Lee", "A Dream Within a Dream", and that old faithful "The Raven"
Loads of different things and techniques used here and I really enjoyed it. It was daunting at first as all the tutorials I watched about transfering images to canvas used "gel medium". What to use? I tried gesso. It WORKED.... yayyyy.
I used images from Moonlight Journey as a starting point, printed onto thin card, (I find the print quality is better). I applied a coat of white gesso to the canvas and, when still wet, burnished the images on - then went to bed so that I wouldn't be tempted to "see how it's doing". The testing time - wet the card and gently rub it away. The images are set in the gesso.
Some soot stamping of the angel from Smeared Ink and some Poe quotes from the writers plate from Cherry Pie. I also heat embossed the angel with a slightly opaque powder. These were applied using matt mod podge after heat embossing images of the man himself from that Cherry Pie plate in the bottom left and between the images top right using the same opaque powder. This gives it the slightly ghostly look I like. Next comes the stamping onto tissue paper. Using the "nevermore" quote and skull/books stamp from Cherry Pie again and some gravestones and ravens from Smeared Ink. These were applied using more mod podge.
When it was all dry, I applied a final coat of modpodge to seal.
I made a few lace flowers and stuck on with pinflair glue gel.
All I need to do now is a frame.

The Good Witch ATC swap

Again at Stampin' Dymonz' Scrap Shack, This is this month's ATC swap. "The Good Witch", was the theme chosen.
This month it's make 10 +1 for self.
This is my contribution to the month.



The witch image is from "Wild Flower Kids" coloured in with promarkers. The "Best Witches" sentiment is from Delicious Doodles and the background is from Moonlight Journey.
The wisps of steam have been highlighted with orange embossing powder and I added a little spider's web in the corner using silvery thread.

playtime with an ATC

I took time out to just purely play tonight and made an ATC. A short while ago, Beth over at Stamp Insanity was very generous and sent me this digi. I had to ink her up, didn't I!! I made this fit her challenge of "Lace and Pearls". True to form (I hope) it doesn't fit into the "norm". haha.

The background is from MoonLight Journey. This was ink distressed first with orange then dark mahogany DI. The image, Kassandra, is coloured with promarkers. The lace is actually dyed dark brown but as it's night, the artificial light doesn't shown true colours. Even with a daylight bulb. The pearls stuck in the centre of the flowers are orange. I even added a few tiny 2mm pearls for the spider's eyes.

Loathsome Lotharios is the challenge over at Haunted Design House this week. The idea of continuing last week's 3" meander mini album with subsequent challenge entries appealed to me. Thankyou Susan.
So using some of the dark images from Tellen's Place Designs, we have a little tableau of some adoring females under the spell of Creeth.

Beyond The Door

I made a little video featuring the mini book made for the opening day of the Dark Arts Forum over at Stampin' Dymonz Scrap Shack, but after waiting over 6hrs for it to upload to blogger I'm going to post the pics here instead.
All the images are from Tellen's Place Designs, coloured using distress inks. The backgrounds of the ATC sized pictures are from Moonlight Journey. Additional papers from my scrap box are from Crafty Chaos and The Angel Company.
The pages are made from toilet tissue inners, painted black.
